Social Care Innovation Fund

Over the course of two years, the social care innovation fund project gained the views and experiences of over 120 families, young people, social workers, schools and voluntary sector experts in Bromley and co-produced solutions to improve the access and experience for families of disabled Children and Young People into Social Services.

So what were some of the SCIF solutions?

  1. Introduction of an initial Online Assessment for new referrals to Short Break Services to replace the Social Worker Assessment. Visit the Short Breaks Online Assessment for further information
  2. The Launch of the MAX Card – A card which offers national and local concessions for disabled young people and their families in Bromley. Visit Max Card for more information.
  3. Launch of the ‘Time for me Brand’ – Posters and films to encourage families with a disabled child or young person to realise that they can still live life to the full Bromley Local Offer – Time for Me
  4. Social Worker Ways of Working Tool kit- including the use of an introductory letter for parent/carers and for young people to explain the role of the Social Worker. A series of key recommendations for the Disabled Children’s Team has also been produced.
  5. Making the ‘C’ in EHC Plans count – including a film for young people to encourage them to have input into their EHC Plan and a set of questions to generate a conversation about social needs.

The SCIF project has been an outstanding example of what can be achieved through real co-production and the team would like to take this opportunity to thank you for all your support over the last 24 months.
