The role of parent representatives (reps) is to inform decision makers about the experiences of parents and to ensure that parents’ views are fed into decisions about children’s & young people services at an operational and/or strategic level. Through this process parents and professionals reach a common understanding about effective services for disabled children. Their combined information and perspectives result in joint planning that leads to more effective services.
Commitment – to attend meetings on key priority areas (timings and frequently of meetings vary).
BPV are working closely with other voluntary organisations across the borough and our vision is to recruit a number of Parent Champions across our schools so that parents are kept informed about services for their son or daughter.
The role of a parent champion is to support the work of BPV by being a point of contact within a school or community setting for information and support. BPV are looking to recruit a number of parent champions from across the Borough to reflect the diversity of LB Bromley and range of needs.
Commitment – approximately 2 hours per week
