About the event

Did you know Statements of Special Educational needs are ceasing?

Does your child have a statement of Special Educational need?

Are you aware that your child’s Statement must to converted to an Education, Health and Care Plan by 31st March 2018?

The way children and young people with SEND are supported is changing following the introduction of the Children and Families Act 2014.

The Government has published guidance on the transitional arrangements for those children and young people who currently have a statement of special educational needs and how these will be converted to Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP).

All statements must be converted by 31st March 2018.

Bromley Parent Voice has been working with the LB Bromley to ensure that this deadline is met. This will involve a transfer review. A letter will shortly be issued by LB Bromley to all parent carers of children whose statements require converting setting out what will happen next.

You will also receive a letter from your son or daughter’s school inviting you to attend a transfer review meeting.

The process gives parent carers the opportunity to get you and your child’s views heard, however, it also brings responsibilities.

You will be required to:

  • Prepare (Section A: Personal Profile)
  • Attend the transfer review meeting
  • Capture your child’s wishes and views for the future
  • Think about the outcomes you and your child want to work towards achieving.
