Independent Support commissioned for a further two months

The Department for Education has extended the Independent Support programme, managed by the Council for Disabled Children, for a further two months.

Dame Christine Lenehan, Director of the Council for Disabled Children, said: “The Council for Disabled Children is pleased that the Department for Education has chosen to extend the Independent Support programme for a further two months, so that parents and young people continue to have access to valuable support as they navigate through the Education, Health and Care (EHC) planning process, or have access to familiar one-2-one support with an Annual Review. The extension phase will also help local authorities to continue their role supporting families and young people and in doing so, consider how best a child or young person can be supported to achieve the best possible educational and other outcomes.”
