Changes to the Family Information and Advice Service From Monday 3rd September 2012
Following a restructure in Early Years in May, it was decided to substantially reduce the service currently provided by the Family Information and Advice Service and move to a web based self-service function.
As from Monday 3rd September, there will be no telephone support, e-mail support or drop-service available to parents. All enquires to the existing phone number and e-mail address will be re-directed to Bromley.gov.uk. The website will contain comprehensive, up to date information on all childcare providers, childcare information and funding enquires and will also signpost parents to other services where their support requirement is not within childcare or funding.
There will be a new Childcare Family Support team, supporting families with complex needs relating to early education, childcare provision and childcare funding. They will also provide brokerage to support parents matching them with suitable childcare provision. However, all work with parents will only be undertaken by e-mail referral from the agencies and services supporting the family.
Criteria for referring parents into the new service:-
* Require information and / or support to apply for 2 Year Old Funding
* Parent has a complaint or query on a childcare provider (Childminder, Pre school, Nursery)
* Support required in looking for suitable childcare due to family vulnerability/ disability
