About Us

The role of the Steering Group

The business of Parent Voice is managed by the Steering Committee. Each member is responsible for representing the views of a wider group of parents. Each member has a system of networking and disseminating information to other parents.

The Parent Voice Steering Committee meets on a regular basis. Venues and meeting times are arranged for the convenience of parents/carers. Meetings are to be held during term time.

Peter KnowlesChairman

My son Oliver who is 10 has multiple disabilities. Oliver has Cerebral Palsey, Hydrocephalus, is registered blind and is on the Autistic Spectrum.

I have served as both Chair of Governors at Oliver’s School and Chair of the Portage Steering Committee. I have also been a parent representative on the National Portage Association Committee. I understand that the role of Chairman carries a workload and responsibilities and I am pleased to take it on for at least the first year.

Jane DayVice Chair

I have four children. My son Henry, who is 13, attends Langley Boys School and has access to the excellant ASD resource there. I feel passionate about changing and enhancing services for all disabled children within the Borough using my difficult experiences to change systems for the better.

Lucia DebiaseSecretary

My son Luca, age 5, has Down’s Syndrome. He attended the Phoenix Centre from a baby and as a family we were engaged in Early Support, Portage and the classrooms. We felt very privileged to have access to such fantastic resources. Luca is now in a Mainstream School where again he receives great input enabling him to continue well in his development.

I would very much like to be a part of the Parent Forum as I think it is important to have my opinions listened to and be involved in supporting and influencing any service developments within Bromley for  children and young people with a disability or additional need and their families.

Parent Representatives

The role of the parent representative is to inform decision makers about the experiences of parents and to ensure that parent’s views are fed into decisions about services for disabled children and young people at a strategic level.  Parent  representatives should represent the views of all parents.

Bromley Parent Voice now has parent representatives on the following Local Authority operational and strategic groups:

  • Active Involvement Sub Group                          Pelin Ahmet & Kay Moore
